Meet the Guide

Tanner Conkwright

For a decade, Tanner has been pursuing trout with a flyrod from Pennsylvania to North Carolina. From trekking deep into the backcountry to navigating the roadside, he has explored countless streams throughout the Appalachian region.

“While growing up on a private lake in the hills of central Virginia and fly-casting at Largemouth Bass and Bluegill Bream, I’ve also come to study and value the many beautiful trout streams here in the Commonwealth. My adventures with a flyrod sparked an interest in the science of trout habitat along with conservation, which in turn led me to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Fisheries management.”

From pursuing big browns to stalking the wild and remote brook trout, Tanner has attained a deep knowledge of his home waters in Virginia and of the various tactics used to catch these fish. It’s a privilege to share his knowledge with both beginner and experienced anglers.

“Whether you’re trying to learn the art of flyfishing or simply seeking to enjoy the outdoors and catch fish, I look forward to being your guide. A day on the water is a day well spent.”
